I don't know them, but since they sound like a wanker I'd say they wanted oppression points to give them a good base to smite wrongdoers from, rather than sympathy.

I don't know this wank firsthand, but I've heard they wrote an HIV-positive Hamilton AU and then came up with this extremely over-the-top background to justify writing it.

I didn't keep up with the Great Hamilton Dumpster Fire of 2016 (not my fandom) but I was trying to figure out who the person behind hivliving/Israa was claiming to be and I found this rec of one of their Hamilton fics:

"first off we have Israa, @blueskysapphic...a Chinese/Pakistani writer, and she wrote To Scale the Blue Sky. This is a Lams fic set in Charleston, South Carolina, in the 1980s at the height of the HIV/AIDs crisis. Israa is genderfluid, bisexual, HIV+, a survivor, and all around just a phenomenal writer."

So...who wants to bet they're really a painfully average white teenager that thought the HIV crisis and the beginning of the gay rights movement was ~super romantic~.

“Israa,” in the guise of the tumblr user blueskysapphic and ao3 user iluzjonista, spent most of late 2015 and 2016 collecting fans for their HIV-centric Hamilton high school AU. They claimed to be an HIV-positive Chinese-Pakistani trafficking survivor, living in India with their Catholic Somali-American wife. They claimed to be nonbinary.

She really went all out. I can see her writing a list in her head:

Good work on that OP getting the info out. Fandom wankers who pull this shit do so much damage at so many levels, it's remarkable to see. When I was that age I had sock puppets too, but thank god I never thought this was the appropriate way to use them.

I was never in Hamilton fandom (thank God), but found out about this drama from, of all places, a Twitter account for a US politics-related publication. It's a long story, and no, it wouldn't make sense for the US Politics thread, so I won't get into it.

I've been out of Hamilton for a while but this has prompted me to look back and see what some of my favorite writers from that fandom are doing. Did lizdexia delete her account? I know she's switched usernames a couple of times, but is she gone?
